It's FAFSA TIME!!!!
I liked doing FAFSA right after finishing my income taxes.....now I have to think about how much I owe and how broke I am TWICE a year LOL!
Not sure why the government changed the month they want you to submit; I think they had trouble getting everything processed on their end between the time you used to file in April/May and when classes started in August. Now they have 10 months to get everything processed.
We won't sit down and get our daughter's paperwork and the parent plus paperwork done for a couple weeks yet, but it will be great to have it completed. Another thing I can check off my every-growing list of things that have to be done. In all actuality....once you fill it all out the first time, it stores a lot of your information and the next year you only have to fill in portions of the paperwork online. It isn't hard and it isn't super time consuming, it's just a painful reminder of how much money I DON'T have.
** Some newbies to FAFSA don't know that FIRST you have to set up your Log-In and Password; then you wait 1-3 days for the government to check and be sure that you are a real person and you are who you say you are. Then when you get your email confirmation, you can actually log in and start the paperwork. So plan a couple days the first time, the next year you should be good to go whenever you decide to sit down and get it done.
